Hi there...
Summer is SO much easier for me and weight loss, not just because of the fresh food choices, but because I'm off from work!! Lots of time to plan menus and work out!
Thanks for all you do!

Summer Weight Loss: Like you, I seem to do much better in the summer. I'm in southern California, so I can get nice produce year round, but I definitely tend to eat more fruits & veggies in the summer because it's too hot to cook. LOL
Summer can be just as hard as winter, those sangrias & margaritas are full of empty calories!

Wow Heather! Your before & after photos are not only amazing, but inspiring! :-) I'm proud of you!
Hey...not sure if I'm included in your sweepstakes or not since I live in Kansas, but this is Janelle Eden. janelle_eden@hotmail.com
Summer affects my weight loss cause it's nice enough weather for me to take our dog on long walks at the park trails. I also get to go swimming and just be more active, as opposed to hiding in the house cause it's too cold inside!

It's harder for me in the summer as we work summers at our local Italian restaurant. Gooooooood food. Lots of it...oh, did I mention FREE????
Have fun on your vacation!
My name is Melanie & my email address is zappazoe@bellsouth.net. Summer affects my weight loss efforts by making me more conscious because I am getting into a bathing suit every weekend. It keeps me on my toes with counting my points. It's a little harder sometimes because I like to drink alcoholic beverages more often in the summer months, so I have to really watch that my points don't go overboard.

I would actually say that it is harder for me in the summer. All the BBQ's and vacations and no "schedule" screws me all up.
It is easier for me to exercise & eat right in the summer except for when it comes to vacations and summer parties. Thanks for having a giveaway!

I find weight loss a little harder during summer since I'm not going to school and don't have a routine so I tend to do a lot of snacking :/.

In AZ, there's pros and cons to summer. You don't really want to be outside ever unless it's in the pool, (so not as much walking/park time). However, the early morning runs are producing an a-mazing calorie burn! (Or so the bodybugg tells me)
And since it's so hot, I avoid the oven like the plague, so it's not as tempting to make baked goods.

Summer is much harder for me because of travel. Lots of great restaurants and too many drinks!!
Have a great vacation!

Summer is easier for me because the weather is better and I can get outside and move more!
thanks!
Summer is harder for me *some* times. There's just a lot more BBQs and it's also the time where my mom, dad and sister all celebrate their birthdays, so there's usually some dining out to deal with each month.
Nothing too crazy though. Just more temptation, it seems. And I have to agree that it feels easier when there's all sorts of in-season produce on sale. Pleasing to my checkbook and my taste buds!

I love summer!! All the fresh fruit, the great veggies and my appetite seems to go down :) Not to mention the bbq!!

I love your blog! I attend WW meetings in Fairfield, CT and have lost 84 lbs. so far. Summer is an easier time to lose weight because of the fresh fruits and veggies that are available and because it's so much easier to go outside and get some exercise. When the weather is nice and I am out a lot, I don't think as much about food and eating.
Annemarie

Summer is usually easier, for the same reasons you listed!
Summer is great for my water drinking & I do get more walking in too. Some days tho, it's so hot I just hang out indoors with a box fan & lots of ice water ;)

Summer is, well, this is my first summer on WW and so far it's prving to be pretty good(except last week when I gained, I know that 100 calorie chocolate bars are ok, just not ok to eat the whole box eeek). Anyways, I like all the east options with fruit and BBQing, but I don't find it very much different than the other seasons, except I love melon!

Summer affects my weight loss:
Well, I think it's easier. Lots of grilling chicken, super lean burgers, etc. Lots more outdoor activity: going to the lake, swimming, walking the dogs more often.
I'm more apt to eat "cool" foods in the summer: salads, fruit, etc.
I dohave recipes that I make more frequently in the winter: warm, feel-good foods. Summer it just all seems lighter.
Summer affects my weight loss in that I'm in a better mood. It's warm and sunny-no snow, no sub-zero temps, no cabin fever.
Enjoy your vacation!

I am just starting out on my journey, by following weight watchers. I have ordered an at home kit, and know that I have a lot of work ahead of me. My goal is to lose over 100lbs. I know that it isn't going to happen overnight, and I want to start in the summer while I am able to be outside and active, doing things I want to do instead of being at a gym.
wendy
winnypooh@yahoo.com
im a heat-wimp, so feeling like I am "trapped" i the air conditioned house, i tend to snack more. Even if I eat fruits and veggies, i still feel like i eat more of them.
Summer is SO much harder for me to lose! Birthdays, celebrations, barbies, vacations, day trips, cocktails, spur-of-the-moment parties. It's easier to be active outdoors and fresh veggies/fruit abound BUT the days are way longer! (Which means more eating/drinking) I've gone over my points nearly everyday for the past 3 weeks!! Thankfully, I haven't gained.
Have a great time!

I love the summers! It's easy to exercise because there are lots of fun activities to keep us busy, and the fruits and veggies are delicious! When I was still teaching, summer was when I made the most progress on my journey by far.
Awesome giveaway, Heather!
Summer is a little tougher in the weight loss dept. only because my normal routine gets out of whack with the kids being home. There's lots more snacking/goodies around and more parties and bbq's!
Hope your have a great vacay:)

Summer is easier for me to maintain my weight because I have to see myself in my bikini. That actually drives me to lose weight and workout harder as well!
Aimee
Summer...roller coaster for the weight loss journey. On the positive side: fruits and veggies, some right out of our garden, grilled food, lighter fare, more outdoor activities. On the negative: more "get together" activities with friends that involved food and somewhat more alocohol!

I lost 80+ on WW and have kept it off for 8 years. It's never easy, but I find summer easier since I can get out and get more exercise. I also love the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. Great giveaway!

Shes also excited for us to go grocery shopping so i can show her my go to items on WW.

I think it maybe be a tad easier to lose durning the summer for these reasons 1)tons of outdoor activities to keep you moving. 2) tasty fruits and veggies. 3) when its too hot I think you tend to eat less or maybe just lighter foods 4)you tend to wear less clothing which is more skin showing which makes you eat less because you don't have a big sweater like you do in the winter covering up all your imperfections.

I think its harder to lose weight because I go to more parties and Picnics and weddings....the list goes on!

Oddly, I tend to have a harder time in the summer with travel and picnics and summer drinks! In the winter we don't have as many places to go!
Hi, I'm Robin (reagen25@comcast.net). Summer has it's ups and downs for me. There's all the fresh produce, but also all the fairs and carnivals.

During the summer weightloss can be both easier and harder for me. It's easier in the sense that I LOVE fresh fruits and veggies. So I do a lot of salads with protein, I grill fish and veggies, and love fresh fruit for dessert. It is bad in the sense that there are a LOT of cookouts and parties to attend, which means lots of potato salad (which is hard for me to turn down), tons of sugary drinks, and it's easy to make a bad choice when you aren't controlling what's prepared. I would say for the most part though summer is a much easier time of year for me to lose.
Hi Heather!
I love summer because I can GET OUTSIDE. Cleveland winters are terrible so I always try to make the most of summer. Plus I am taking my 5 year old with me every day on my 1+ mile walks, so he and I not only get a chance to talk, but he is learning to incorporate exercise every day as a part of his life.
Julie
julieannmead@gmail.com
It's easier for me because my boys' (I have three sons) schedules slow down a bit. This gives me more breathing room in MY schedule. I can exercise more and all that watermelon is so delish!
Carla

Summer can be a double-edged sword for me - lots of beautiful fruits and veggies to eat, and nice weather to enjoy to help with my weight loss goals, but also lots of cookouts, reunions, family gatherings, etc that have been known to sabotage my weight loss goals.
This will be my first summer on WW. I'm hoping it will be a little easier, not only because of more opportunities for outside of activies and loads of fresh fruit and garden veggies, but because all our birthdays and majoreating holidays are in the fall and winter.

Summer is sooooo hard for me. I feel totally off schedule with there being no school for my child and so many activites and trips. I'm having a very hard time staying on track...I need routine!! I like routine!!! I have gained 7 pounds since summer started...I'm back to tracking and on plan now though.
Have a great vacation!!!

Summer is easier because I crave grilled veggies and salads. In the winter I crave comfort food. I do love my frozen treats though, which is why I'm so glad for the WW giant fudge bars. They're so huge and only 1 point.
summer seems to be harder for me. the nice thing about summer is that you can excercise outside. Journaling has to be what will keep my on track in summer.

I'm finding all the fresh produce to be a serious plus of the season. I wish I could say I like to get outside more but it's 97 degrees outside so I'm working out in the AC. :)
Hi! Thanks for your posts - I find them really great.
My name is Mara and my email address is marble518@sbcglobal.net
And I do agree that it is easier to make healthy food choices in the summer because of all the good fruit and veggies in season - I just love nectarines! It's really helped me get closer to my goal!
BTW, the blueberry muffins were great!

Summer is both easy and challenging for me. Easy b/c there is so many fresh fruits that I love available in the summer, but challenging because I am constantly on the go. I don't spend a lot of time at home preparing my own food and that's always a challenge.

Losing weight in the summer for me is easier for several reasons:
1) I get up early in the morning to work out.
2) I eat tons of fruit and veggies that are in season.
3) My husband and I can go for walks in the evening.
4) I make our own ice cream.
The only downside is that a drumstick is so much tastier than a scoop of ice cream at my Baskin Robbins.
Hi Heather, thanks for this great giveaway.

I usually end up losing more weight in the summer because I am able to be more active by doing things outside - riding my bike, swimming, and going for long walks. Also, like you, I enjoy all the fruits and veggies available in the summertime.
Summer is a little easier for weight loss... more fresh fruits & veggies and I'm more active. Downside is all the BBQ's and festivals!! nikkijoanis@gmail.com

Summer seems to be an easier time for me to lose. Fresh produce out of our garden and lean meats on the grill mean easy dinners to prepare. Have a great vacation!
I just joined WW last weekend, thanks in large part to your blog that I've been following for a few months now. While I was signing up I was asking them about WW measuring spoons and was told they don't carry them anymore, so I would be super-excited to win. And even if I don't, thanks being such a good motivator. I've got my activity log taped to my bathroom mirror to remind me to MOVE!

I generally find it easier to watch what I am eating in the summer b/c of the wide variety of produce available and b/c it is so hot outside that I don't want to eat heavy food. Unless, the A/C is turned down so low that I am freezing. Then I want comfort food. Also, it's easier to workout b/c the days are longer, but harder to workout outside b/c it's too hot here in Texas. So, I guess really it's a toss-up for me.
Heather- I am finding that with all the fruits and veggies in season--I really don't have an excuse! I also LOVE to grill- and it just seems FUN to have some yummy meat and veggies on the grill-plus I am not near as hungry when it is hot! :)

While GC are at swim lessons (45min) I walk the hills. Then swim team practice follows (1 1/2 hrs) I continue to walk the hills. The pool is nestled in a neighborhood of hills ... lots of them. So for me summer is easier.
Summer is so much better for my weight loss! So many fresh fruits and veggies, they are practically all I want to eat, and it's so, so, SO much easier to get outside and stay outside here in otherwise rainy Seattle!

Whoo hoo! I've been wanting that spoon set for a while, but didn't want to pay for it just yet. This looks great!
Summer time seems to be a little easier for me purely in the sense that I don't have the urge to bake (like I do all winter long). That means I'm not making cookies, brownies, fattening muffins, etc. every day. And, I too love all the fresh seasonal produce. Yum!

I find summer the easiest time of year to lose weight for several reasons. One, my middle schooler is out. As anyone with children knows the older they get the more homework they have. That consumes my time during the school year. Also, the food selections for summer are so much more appealing..... Fresh slice of watermelon anyone?
What a great giveaway! Enjoy your vacation:)
Summer is always easier for me due to the fresh fruit as well! Also, I'm a teacher and when I'm home all day, I have an easier time. It's when I'm at school that I want to snack all the time. Go figure!

Summer is easy and hard for me. It's easy if I stay home and don't go anywhere because of all the fresh veggies and fruit, but harder because there are so many events to go to that revolve around food.
Great prizes!
Summer is a lot harder than I thought it would be to stay on plan...I'm still new at it, so that probably doesn't help either :) But I'm doing better with each BBQ, and by next summer I will have it under control!
I love your blog - very motivational!! You look great!! Thanks for sharing!

Summer weight loss is by far easier - longer days, great produce from the farmers market...plus less clothes!
Brenna Hornbaker

For me it is a mixed bag. Easier with the wide variety of fruits and veggies in season and greater opportunities for outdoor activities. Not so easy from the relaxed days that make it hard to keep to an exercise schedule !

Summer is a hard time for me to lose weight. I live in Las Vegas and it gets up to 115' at times, making it hard to exercise. because it's never cool enough. I do workout in the pool, though, even though it's only 4' deep. We have access to great fruits & veggies year round.

Hope you are having a FANTASTIC vacation! Can't wait for mine to start - 29 days and counting
Summer has always been so much easier to lose the weight because of 1) great fruits and veggies (and Jersey tomatoes)
2) with the summer heat so much more water is consumed so those 8 glasses a day are almost always doubled
3) swimming and walking and sports - sometimes just sunbathing (with the protective creams) seems to melt the calories/fat away.
Except for this year (at least so far) since Jersey has been having the coolest, wettest summer in recent memory.

The first really hot days of summer I retain, but I noticed latley I'm loving the heat now that I have most of my "insulation" gone the heat makes me feel good! I have even been known to drive home in 105 degree weather with the A/C off and the windows down!!
I think summer usually is easier for me because of the longer days and Ifeel more motivated when I get home from work to be active. I am determined to use all the zucchini and squash from my garden this year in healthy dishes! Although my work days continue to be very long, I am trying to pack everyday all I will need to eat and am getting in a 30 minute walk most days at lunch. Thanks for the contest! WWAW wasn't the same without you! Miss seeing you!

This is my first summer as a Lifetime member and on maintenance after having lost 118 pounds.
Reasons for voting "harder":
1-Too hot to exercise outside past early morning; 2-frozen yogurt portions seem to grow as the temperature rises; 3-My job is actually pretty crazy in the summer, so my schedule isn't as predictable.
Reasons for voting "easier":
1-we are wearing shorts and tank tops and bathing suits-need I say more?; 2-fruits and vegies abound; 3-we tend to cook things that don't require the oven, so grilled meats and summer salads are more the norm.
I love your blog a lot! You are a VERY cool gal, and reading it has helped me to think that I might be able to keep this weight off after all! Cheers!

How summer affects my weight loss: Summer for me can be hard and it can be easy for weight loss. I live in So Cali and the weather here has been in the high 90's and low 100's lately, so exercise is a huge challenge for me. I feel so tired and bleh when its this hot, so I don't get my exercise in. However, when its time for our annual HI trip, I get in TONS of exercise (surfing, walking, kayaking, biking, horseback riding, etc). Plus, they have tons of fruit and fish to nosh on =]

hi there! summer typically makes me want to lose weight because i am wanting to wear "skimpier" clothing than i do in colder months (especially here in ohio!). it's a vicious cycle though, because summer is also the time of year with the yummiest picnic food! it's quite the battle :o).

I love all the fresh veggies/fruit; however, I find summertime parties so difficult with the pasta salads, hot dogs, etc! The other good part of summer: the outdoors and more exercise!

My goal during summer is to keep my current weight. I also have hard time with all the BBQ, picnics and holidays celebrations! However I try to eat as much fruit as I can. Sometimes is too hot for exercises, however picking fruit at my local farm is a good idea! It is so cheap and great turn over :)
Summer is so much easier to loose weight. The weather is nice so you can get outside and move. Fresh produce is available at a reasonable rate.
I just started Weight Watchers last week and have lost 2 pounds. I am well on my way.

Summer actually helps me - All of the fruits and veggies are just fabulous and inexpensive this time of year so I can go nuts! I also move a lot more - gardening, taking walks, etc.

Summer for me is easier since I can get outside and walk and I have less of an appetite in the heat.

I'm a teacher, so summer is easier in the fact that I can try new recipes and try to find a variety of things that are low pts and that I enjoy!
I love using my outdoor grill in the summertime. Everything tastes great and is healthy!

I think its easier for me to lose in the summer because there is more to do outside, you are not holed up in the house like in the winter.. and you are right about all the fresh fruits and vegies that make it so easy! Thanks for the chance to win!

Hi! I just found your lblog and I love it. I'm new to WW.
My name is Jayme.

Summer is so full of activities, the heat seems to reduce my appetite, and I do feel that I could live on melons! Winter is a time to be snuggled up under blankets and watching tv. Seems like a perfect fat breeding ground. :-)
Summer *should* be easier to keep my weight off, but with a running injury this year it's been very difficult.

I'm the complete opposite, I loose more in the winter months. Summer months are harder for me, I love ice cream and ice cream and did I say ice cream. lol oh and BBQ, lake parties just lots of socializing. If I can maintain my weight Im happy. So far so good! :)

I think summer months are harder to loose weight. Too many parties and social gatherings... oh and ice cream! lol As long as I maintain Im ok and so far Im ok.

This is my first summer as a weight watcher (I started Jan. 5) and I don't think the summer months are any easier or harder, there are just new obstacles to overcome.
Thanks to summer, I've started incorporating more fruits and veggies I've never tried and preparing them in ways I never considered, like grilled pineapple and even watermelon! The hard part is when I'm trying to make better choices at the series of bbq's, birthday parties and gatherings that have filled my summer agenda. I have no problem opting for grilled chicken and fruits and veggies, but I haven't quite conquered the saying no to the other fixin's. Even if I limit myself to one deviled egg or one scoop of baked beans, I don't limit myself from having ALL the ones I want. But even though that's been a challenge, I still enjoy it and ask myself," Did I do better than I would have done before joining WW?" And I find that usually I have. And that's really the point of this program anyway. To be able to enjoy life while making better choices, even if they aren't always the best.

Hi,
I found your blog today and LOVE IT! Summer affects my weight loss by being able to MOVE MORE! Walking in the mornings, swimming, and yard work!
Hooray for Summer! :D
Summer affects my weight loss more positively than winter - I'm more active and there are more delicious fresh fruits and veggies readily available.

Even though I look forward to summer and the possibilities it offers me to lose weight (outdoor activity, fruit, etc), it is typically harder for me to lose. I have countless activities going on that I just want to kick back and enjoy...food and all. By the end of the summer I've either maintained my weight or lost a few and I'm ok with that.
