Making choices

So I did the "good mom" thing & signed up to bring treats for the 4th grade Halloween party (or whatever P.C. thing they call it these days).  Riley made sure we were the family that got to bring cupcakes.  I made bats.  And mummies.  I also made a giant eyeball cake with the leftover cake mix. Because...what else do you do with leftover batter but make a cake shaped like a big eyeball?

{mummies & bats & eyeballs - OH MY!}

{black bats with cookie wings}

{the eyeball (it's sort of boob-like)}

{green eyed mummies}

I'm blogging about these to let you know I did not eat one single crumb of these treats!!!!  Not even the Fudge Stripe Cookies that make the bat wings. It wasn't easy, but I really wanted to have margaritas that night at dinner. We were headed to our favorite Mexican restaurant for happy hour. Oh, the choices we make when points run low.  I planned ahead. That's all that matters.

I just realized, I went from talking sweet mama stuff to booze in three seconds with this blog post. That explains a lot about me, actually. lmao

You are such a good mom! My kids know to ONLY sign me up for plates and napkins!!

Kudos for not eating any of those treats! They look so good, well, except for the blue nipple - ooowwww ;)

Kids = margaritas:)

Those are really cute!
You didn't lick the icing either? ;-) I'm impressed!

Chari, I really didn't!!! Not even one single mini m&m went into my pie hole. I am shocked. It might be a first EVER. lol

Marisa....we laughed and laughed about the big blue areola. Luckily, the little 4th grade cherubs only saw an eye.

Kids = Margaritas = true

Marcelle, it was NOT an easy task. I just kept thinking about dinner later that night. Dinner was way better than those cupcakes. :)

I live in The Land of Margaritas (Texas) so I have to contend with mexican food and margaritas on a regular basis. It's really hard to be sitting on the patio in the sun while everyone else is enjoying margaritas and you are not. But they are so high in calories. So I came up with a WW acceptable solution.

Instead of a margarita, I order a shot of tequila (with a lime) and a tall glass of ice. I dump the tequila in the glass, squeeze the lime in, and then I reach into my purse and pull out a 20oz bottle of diet Sprite (or 7 Up or whatever) and fill the glass up. Then I stir in a packet of Splenda.

The first time I did this, I was a little embarrassed to have diet Sprite in my purse, so I asked the waiter and the bartender if they had diet Sprite and if they cared what I had my own. They thought it was great. I've done this at multiple restaurants in Dallas and always it had been met with understanding from the restaurant.

Then you have a margarita on the rocks with only the points of the tequila!

Tina, good for you!!!!! I carry my own food & drink into restaurants all the time. No one has ever given me shit about it. If they did, I'd dish it right back at them. :)

I have several WW friendly margarita recipes over on my web site www.thewwchick.com. Sadly, I can no longer consume artificial sweeteners, but so many others out there will benefit from your tip.

The past couple of years I've had to revamp my WW routine to include real sugar and real food. This is certainly different than the way I *lost* the 80 pounds with WW. So far, I've managed to keep it off. Real margaritas and all (yes!). It really does boil down to the choices we make.

Those cupcakes (and the boobie cake) ROCK! What a SUPER MAMA you are! :)

I make a mean 2 point margarita! My BF and my friends love them!

1 jigger of tequila (2)
Crystal light lemonade mixed with water
Fresh lemon and or lime juice

YUM!

Ooo-la-la! I thought I'd never eat bats or eyeballs. Until now. I'd eat it all.
